My Golden Kazoo

Logan Gibbons

E

When I was growing up I was always alone

           A7

Cause everyone in my family played instruments of their own

         B7                              A7                              E

And all I could do was just sit in the corner and hum

My Dad played guitar, my Mom hit the keys

My Brother on the drums, Sis's cello between her knees

And all I could do was just sit there, feeling dumb.

          A7

So I went downtown to see Old Joe

                        E

He's the man who owns the local music store

                            A7

He says "I know your problem, I got something for you"

                   B7

And then he pulled out an old gold kazoo

And said "You don't use your fingers cause it ain't got no holes"

"You don't use your arms cause you don't draw no bow"

"All you gotta do is pucker up your lips and blow."

<CHORUS>

                    G                       A                          E

Now I play my kazoo all day long, I can play with anyone, I can do any song

              G                             A                      B7

I play my kazoo with any tune,And now I'm gonna play my kazoo for you…

Now when the families all gathered 'round

And my Dad's guitar's playing that country sound

And Mom's taking the piano to places it ain't never been

And my Brother's on the drums just a-keepin' the beat

And my Sister's cello's sounding lonesome and sweet

I can pick up my old kazoo and join right in

And never again will I have to feel dumb

While I got my gold kazoo and I know how to hum

And with this instrument I plan to stay

And maybe record a record album someday

Cause you don't use your fingers cause it ain't got no holes

And you don't use your arms cause you don't draw no bow

All you gotta do is pucker up your lips and blow.
